Zac Allin, a talented canoeist, from Prudhoe was awarded the young sportsman of the year in 2015 and received a Stan Calvert Scholarship (Sponsored by Red Hot Property). Here are some questions we posed him:
How are things going for you at the moment?
I have one exam at uni and then will be training in London for the next month before I head out to Bratislava for the U23 world championships.
Can you give our readers some idea on your background and progress over the last few years?
Since 2013 I have been a member of the British Junior team managing to final at both junior world championships and European championships as well as picking up two bronze medals in the team event in the world championships in 2014 and European championships in 2015.
And more recently….
In 2016 I finished the season as top Junior in Britain and 3rd Senior as my final year as a Junior. Leading on to my first year into the older age category I was able to make the U23 British team and have been selected to race at the U23 World championships in Bratislava- Slovakia and HOHENLIMBURG- Germany.
Can you describe how the support from Red Hot properties has helped you?
In the past few years, I have been lucky enough to receive support from Red hot properties which has helped me with travel costs and the increasing costs of sports equipment before I was able to move to a high performance centre in London.
